Families and Children

St Mary's is a family focused church with groups and meet ups for all ages, from our Nurture group for new mums to our Little Arks toddler group and family friendly services.

Nurture

Post-Natal group for parents and carers in Thirsk, Sowerby and the surrounding villages. You and your babies are welcome to share the journey of parenting with others at your stage, in a safe and encouraging environment.

We are meeting every Wednesday afternoon as a drop in from 1-3pm. Our local churches are hosting, and so the venue will rotate each week.

Family Services

We run two family friendly services each month at St Mary’s. The Welcome service, on the second Sunday of the month, is informal and interactive worship engaging all ages creatively with bible teaching and crafts.

Family Communion, on the fourth Sunday of the month, is a sharing in communion together with creative child friendly confession, prayers, and bible teaching. We also cater for children as part of our traditional worship on the first and third Sundays of the month, because children are a vital and precious part of our worship

Life Groups

We think small groups are essential an essential part of our journey in faith. There are a number of Life Groups meeting in people's homes across the parish to share life together, ask questions, build up community, grow friendships and deepen our relationship and discipleship with Jesus.

If you would like to get involved with a group, please email hello@thirskparishes.org.
